Good luck to you - I'm running Solaris 11 x86 and SRS 3.1 on vmware -
works well for me (and let's me have a separate dev environment)
I've not had the same problem as you, however I was running the Sunray
on Sun Linux (SRSS 2.0) before I upgraded to Solaris 11 + SRSS 3.0/3.1
and did not had any issues updating firmware.
