Indeed, the bonobo errors come up on the other servers as well. I did start by cleaning out /tmp and /var/tmp - that's all I've ever had to do on a Linux system running Gnome.
I can't tell whether gnome-session hangs before it calls metacity, or if
metacity is crashing; I trussed gnome-session and gconfd as soon as I
could after the terminal connected, but essentially they are just sleeping.
