I'm trying to test 2 Sunray1 DTUs that I got off Ebay. Time is running
out on a DOA return, thats why I'm bugging the list. Anyway I gave up
on installing on Ubuntu/Edubuntu Edgy and just went with an install on
CentOS.
Unit #1 gives me a large hourglass and does nothing else. It seems as
though did do something when it was DHCPing of my router without SRSS
around yet. Seems like the mouse was a bug or a lizard or something.
It's a newt.
I have not seen this since disconnecting my normal DHCP server and running
SRSS 3.1.1. Like I said, just an hourglass now. Is this toast?
No, it just has really old firmware.
Unit #2 gives me the 100M connection thing and a code 21. I know this
is waiting for DHCP from the manual, but then it reboots after about 1
second of that. Looking at the /var/log/messages on CentOS... the DHCP
server appears to give it 192.168.128.198. This seems good, except for
the rebooting about every 5 seconds.
Is there hope for Unit #1? Or should I try to get my money back?
There is hope - if you can get SRSS installed in a supportable
environment and configure an interconnect and connect the old DTU
there, it should upgrade to the new firmware.
