You need atleast Gnome 2.10 with Cairo and Poppler to build
Evince.
Evince does not build on Gnome 2.06 that ships with Solaris 10 06/06
It is however possible to build the Gnome 2.14 java deskop
,including Evince, from source
on top of Solaris 10 06/06, using the javadesktop Common Build Environment.
But then You would have an unsupported Environment and any patches
for JDS / Solaris 10 would not be usable

Another strategy is to install the Blastwave build of gnome 2.1x

There's no ./configure script and no INSTALL file that might give me a
