Subject: [SunRay-Users] usb mass storage on SRSS 3.1.1 and RHEL 4AS
Date: Wed, 6 Dec 2006 10:20:17 -0500
I have installed SRSS 3.1.1 on RHEL 4AS, following the Sun documentation.
I
have enabled (it is by default) support for USB devices in the Web
management console. However I am unable to use USB memory sticks on my
SunRay 170. It appears that the utdiskctl kernel module loads at boot time
(shows in lsmod). Also, /dev/utdisk and /dev/utdiskadm both exist.
However, when I insert a USB stick into the Sunray nothing happens, nothing
shows in logs either. I also checked /tmp/SUNWut/sessions/<MY_SESSION> and
there's nothing.
Did you look at /var/opt/SUNWut/log/utstoraged.log ?
Did you check whether the utstoraged process is running ?
Are device nodes created in $UTDEVROOT/dev/dsk ?
What does "/opt/SUNWut/bin/utdiskadm -l" show ?
If you plug this device directly into the server, does it get mounted ?
Can anyone give me a quick walk through on getting USB
memory stick support on SRSS 3.1.1 on RHEL 3AS u3?
USB storage services will not work on RHEL 3AS u3. They need the Linux 2.6
kernel.
For RHEL 4AS, there's nothing special you need to do. When you plug the
device into a Sun Ray it should get mounted automatically.
