Two weeks ago I tried to buy SEL9 but my supplier here in the UK said
they don't sell that version anymore. Would I like SEL10 he asked?
Foolishly I agreed and now I have 32bit SEL10 on a nice Sun X2200
upstairs. In between a rock and a hard place is a phrase that is
starting to spring to mind here.
I too have the problem of gdm versions from the utinstall command:
Installing GDM version 2.4.4.7.2 ...
+++ gdm-2.4.4.7.2-10.i386.rpm
file /usr/share/xsessions/gnome.desktop from install of
gdm-2.4.4.7.2-10 conflicts with file from package
gnome-session-2.12.0-106.16
GDM: error, GDM not successfully installed
utinstall: fatal, error in the module M08GDM (event Install).
When trying to do a manual install of
GDM_2.4.4.7.2/Linux/Packages/gdm-2.4.4.7.2-10.i386.rpm it says:
rpm --install gdm-2.4.4.7.2-10.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libart_lgpl_2.so.2()(64bit) is needed by gdm-2.4.4.7.2-10.i386
libatk-1.0.so.0()(64bit) is needed by gdm-2.4.4.7.2-10.i386
libbz2.so.1()(64bit) is needed by gdm-2.4.4.7.2-10.i386
libc.so.6()(64bit) is needed by gdm-2.4.4.7.2-10.i386
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.2.5)(64bit) is needed by gdm-2.4.4.7.2-10.i386
etc.
suggests to me that it's trying to install a 64 bit version of gdm.
Surely not right as I thought I had the choice of either 32 bit or 64
bit SEL?
Following on from Bob's suggestion I've installed
gdm-2.16.1-36.4.src.rpm from the web. I'm at the stage of utinstall
so don't have a /opt/SUNWut/lib/iu_modules/M08GDM yet to edit. Any
ideas how I can proceed?
