Hi everyone,

as much as i like sunray solutions, i am wondering is sun gonna bring out syn ray v5 that can compete more with citrix and where you can get full multimedia support on the thin client together with local cd en dvd burning etc... Or are they gonna stop the development ?

Well, supposedly they introduced the SR2 and SR2FS with some new hardware features specifically to support multimedia better. However, they have made a HUGE design flaw in my opinion. To get a reasonable resolution on some larger monitors (that are becoming MUCH more widespread due to the decrease in prices) you have to buy the 2x cost SR2FS instead of a SR2.

Sun has recently put their 24" LCD monitors on a matching grant for Education customers at just over $300. However, to support them at their native resolution I have to replace my SR1's with used SR1g's or to get the potential for the newer multimedia performace, I have to spend twice as much to get a SR2FS that has fibre and dual headed features that I do NOT want.

I don't understand why the SR2 does not replace the 1g with a new version (the SR2FS) available at the higher price for the government which is why it was developed in the first place. Just makes no sense.
