Could this be some kind of time related problem? I just noticed that the clock of the VM running SRSS ran half an hour into the future, and adjusted it to the correct time. Immediately after doing this my session froze, and now I'm unable to log in, with the exact same symptoms as described in my original post. (Yes, I know adjusting the time in this way on a server might lead to a lot of problems, but this system is not yet in production.)
