It's nice to see nearly all from Sun Ray Engineering answering to this tricky 
question :)

We would like to see it used for holding configuration data so we don't need to 
publish GUI firmware for DTU's

BTW. should the volume controls (ctrl + pause + arrow) without GUI firmware 
(kiosk/windows)

That is the SIM card slot.
