I didn't try manually configuring parameters, but th ereason why I
have the GUI firmware was because I was trying it out of frustration
for not getting the non-GUI FW to work!  :-)

Nope, I don't think there's a typo.  The FW files in /opt/SUNWut/lib
date from August 2007 rather than May 2008.  My current line of thinking
is to download the SPARC version of the SunRay patch, unpack it somewhere,
then copy the firmware files to the correct place.  I can't run the installer,
of course, because the server-side SPARC files probably wouldn't work very
well on an x86 box.  :-)
