ok, this was pretty easy. Here are some pointers:

setup the ASA and run the VPN wizard in ASDM (that's cisco's GUI). Setup
a remote access VPN and add your SRSS server's network. I tested this
tunnel with the cisco software vpn client, worked.

In an earlier post to this list, you can also find CLI setup
instructions.

Install the GUI-Firmare (utfwadm, utfwload) on your ray, and enter the
menu with STOP-S. Enter the IP address of your sun ray server and
loghost. I had to omit the IP for the firmware server because else it
would immediately download the Non-Gui firmware on the first connect...
Everything else is pretty straight forward, setup the local IP address
(DHCP or static) and enter VPN peer, group name, group pass, username
and user pass. You can also leave username and pass empty, the ray will
ask for these after a reset/power cycle.

The DTU will reboot, establish the vpn tunnel and connect to your
server.

My first impression is that desktop response times (when switching
application windows for example) is a little slower than without VPN and
this doesn't seem to be a bandwidth issue.
