Hi Alex,
When the 270 is connected locally, it gets dhcp info from a Cisco PIX
Firewall and works fine. To then connect to the remote SR server, I
physically move the network cable form a port on my inside network to a
port on the public side of my firewall connected directly to the
Internet. So to move back and forth, is a two step process for me, 1)
physically move a cable and (2) either enter manual network settings to
connect to the remote SR server, or do clear configuration to connect to
connect to the local server. Moving the cable is trivial, re-entering
the config to connect to the remote server is a pain.
As an aside, despite several attempts, I've not been able figure out how
to tweak my firewall settings to allow the SR to connect to the remote
from my inside network.
Thanks, Mike

Hi,
Locally you could have DHCP manage your settings, so that you can enter your
office details when needed; then reset to pick up DHCP again...
Another idea which I've asked Sun for feedback on, is the ability to store
configuration data on the smartcard. My original idea was to allow for true
global hot-desking i.e. if your SunRay Server Details + VPN config were on the
smartcard then you could go to any internet connected SunRay and dial home
;)... however no word at this time.... oh well..

Subject: [SunRay-Users] Sun Ray 270 Question
Hi everyone,
I have a Sun Ray 270 in my home office that I use via a VPN to access an
SR server in another city. I used the 270's GUI interface to configure
the network settings and it works great. However, I also have an SR
server running on my local network. I would like to be able to easily
switch the 270 between the local and remote SR servers. What I do now
to get to the remote server is do a stop-m and enter needed network
information. To then get to my local SR server I do "Clear
Configuration" on the 270 and I get my local SR server. But to go back
to the remote SR server I have to do stop-m and renter the network stuff
from scratch. There must be a better way to move quickly back and forth
between a locally attached SR server and a remote VPN connected SR
server. Can anybody tell me what it is?
Thanks, Mike
