Hello guys,

I appreciate the enthusiasm!
But it is not my intention to ask you to blow up a couple of Sun Rays in order to get some technical specifications!
A dc to dc converter is really a good solution.
But there are also some regulators on the Sun Ray printboard which probably can handle a specified voltage range as Bob experienced with his 15 Volt power supply. So it would be very helpful if Sun would just provide some basic specs about the operating voltage range of the Sun Rays.
I would expect it on: http://www.sun.com/sunray/sunray2/specs.xml
But there is no input power specified.
An other doc (the Sun Ray data sheet states an input range: 100 - 240 Volts) which is incorrect because it is the input power of the power supply and not the input power of the Sun Ray itself. So, where should a customer turn to to get this kind of basic technical specifications? I am just hoping some of the hardware guys can point me in the right direction.
Its such a waste of time to revers engineer power specs.....

Kind regards,

Ivar

Perhaps the best solution would be a DC-DC regulator circuit. More efficient

another note, I have accidentally run a Sunray 2 on +15V DC for a few days, due
to having the wrong AC-DC adapter plugged in. No noticible harm done, but who
knows how it may affect them long term.- Murray

Murray,

I accidentally ran a Sunray 2 on a Gobi-8 power supply - 20v... it lasted about
30 seconds, and never fired up again.
