Hi experts,
I was trying to install SRSS 4 on a Scientific Linux 4(kernel 2.6).
The GDM version is 2.6 and I can not remove it to install 2.4. Does
anyone know how to modify GDM setting so it can be used for SRSS 4.0?
GDM 2.6 won't work. The GDM changes needed for SRSS, in particular
'gdmdynamic', took a while to get into upstream GNOME and even longer to
be fixed so they actually work.
If you can't use the Sun-patched GDM 2.4 that is delivered with SRSS4.0,
then you need to get a recent GDM (2.16 is known to work) to compile and
work on your distro.
Note: GDM 2.22 has been completely rewritten and still has a lot of
functional regressions, which include the multi-display support needed
for Sun Ray. Latest version that ought to work is 2.20.
That probably explanis the craziness with opensuse 11.
opensuse 10.3 seens to work fine - that gdm 2.20
Will have to give it another go with gdm 2.16 which comes with srss 4.1
