Second time I saw that, another customer tried to "force" 100 MBps /

all the Cisco switch ports where DTUs were connected. Since DTUs are
autonegociate devices, forcing the ports on the Cisco switch was
another very
bad idea... Leaving the ports in autonegiociate solved the case.
Is this true?
I read very often, it is better for the perfomance to disallow
autonegociation.

Yes its definitivly true in the case to the SUN RAY.
Sun Ray relies on autonegotiation .
When a Switch/HUB device does not negotiate, A Sun Ray treats it
lika a HUB
and uses HALF DUPLEX on the Connection . You can see this very clearly
as the status display
on the SUN RAY says " 100 H"/"10 H" in stead of " 100 F "/"10 F"
To set up fixed speed/duplex connections you must be able to FIX it at
booth ends which is fine
for a server connected to an Enterprise Switch. You just use the
configtools at both ends to specify
1000 Mbps FUllduplex or whataever you prefer.
Sun RAY on the other hand need to attatch to the edge of the network
were companies and organisations
tends to use cheap network switches that are not configurable. like
the GS116 , which is probably the cheapset
16 port Gigabit switch you can find.
So you must rely on autoconfiguration as netiher the switch nor the
sunray hardvare device has any nobs to turn.
