I had the same problem with Debian and just discovered the solution
that works for me. At this point SRSS tries to start 
/opt/SUNWut/lib/loginGUI which needs the Motif widget library
libXm.so.3 to be installed. 

SRSS has not many GUI programs and these GUIs are not that complicated. 
But SRSS presents us quite a collection:
 - utsettings           uses Java and its widgets
 - utselect and utwall  use  Tk widgets
 - loginGUI             uses Motif
