Not my area of expertise, but I'd search one that has complete SANE-project.org driver and a good CUPS driver.

The absolute best way to do this today IMO is to go by a $100 Keyspan USB
Server. http://www.keyspan.com/products/homepage.2.productList.USB.spml

Others make them too, Digi, Lantronix, etc but Digi is one of the most cost
effective.

Otherwise, if this scanner is on the SANE list, you could try the following:

But read the whole blog. The customer opted for a less complex option of
USB CAT-5 Extenders. But the USB Server is a better option IMO.

Craig,

If you had to buy a color printer/scanner combo for solaris 10 / srss
4.1 (dont care about windows), what would you get? would you still add
a usb server?
