First thing, check if the AUDIODEV environment variable is being set.  If it
is, then maybe you need to put libc_ut.so in LD_PRELOAD.

If not, manually run the utaudio command and see what it prints out.  If it
returns a device name, then set that to AUDIODEV and also set
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libc_ut.so, then start up some audio program and see if
it makes noise.

Chances are, his environment isn't being set correctly.
