The problems indeed are with the newer version. (A specific range) of older
ones actually do work. This at least holds true for freeNX (the OSS one).

The problem is in the server, not the client. And it it's related to the
same colour space problem Flash is having right now.

So the best suggestion at this point is: downgrade :-/

On a side note, I do think it's a shame. The NX protocol is IMHO by far the
most superior open source (even though it's development is, eufemistically,
sub-optimal) way of connecting with X sessions, and as such it's a perfect
match for Sun Ray Servers and Secure Global Desktop could have support for
it as well.
