Something i noticed in the beginning (when installing a test setup with
SRSS 4.1) was that the authentication screen showed up when claiming a
session, but after installing xscreensaver it didn't show up anymore.
That was ok with us because we relied on xscreensaver to lock the screen
anyway.
What platform are you running on?
With Gnome, the screensaver is hard-coded into the desktop (in terms of
what gets started up initially, and what gets invoked by "Lock Screen"
from the desktop). For both SLES10 and RHEL5 (the two Linux distros
supported by SRSS 4.1) as well as most modern distros that we're aware
of xscreensaver has been replaced by gnome-screensaver. You're not
recompiling parts of the desktop to get around this, are you?
Use of xscreensaver with SRSS 4.1 on Linux is uncharted territory for us.
