Hi all, I'm testing srss 4.1 on a virtualised SLES 10 environment for a potential large educational prospect. I've drawn a couple of conclusions which i would like to share and debate with you.
Server Sunfire X4450 (24cores - 24GB memory) (ESX3i Guests - SLES10, WTSE 32bit, WTSE64bit The Sunray server is configured to launch uttsc in kiosk mode. On the 32 bit terminal server I launch education thinapp applications. Applications seem to run fine but sounds appear unstable. A particular application i've been testing with is using some kind of Narrator. The application reads a line and tells the student which word to type. Most of the time using uttsc words don't get finished or not spoken at all ! I've compiled Rdesktop 1.6.0 and altered the Kiosk mode to use rdesktop instead of uttsc. None of the problems swallowing characters or words seem to appear with rdesktop. To complete the test i've installed a Sunfire 20z with solaris 10 and srss 4.1 srwc 2.1. Running uttsc on the physical box did not have any of the issues seen on the virtualised SLES10 with uttsc. Problem leaving uttsc behind on the virtualised sles10 would be not having the multimedia enhancements. Anyone else experienced this behaviour an maybe have a solution for this? regards, Patrick
