My guess is that it will work perfectly . . . .

We use a variety of Symbol (Motorola) USB barcode scanners on the Sun
Rays - they work just like your USB keyboard.  Just another HID, no
"mapping" of the USB port to VMware is needed.

The closest thing I have to your configuration is a Distribution
Center running SRSS 4.1 on ESX 3.5 using uttsc in kiosk mode pointed
at a Windows 2003 VM.  (wow- that was a mouth full)  We have both
Symbol LS-2208 and Symbol LS-3578 (both USB) and they are just
plug-n-play like a keyboard is.  (I've also tested this with ESXi 4.0)
