No, that's not it. Never heard of shorewall before, and there is no
shorewall script in there, or anywhere on the box for that matter.
I don't think it is a Linux problem, I think it is an SRSS 4.1 / 4.2
problem - I've seen problems like this before, but in those cases only
people who are actually working with the software managed to answer my
questions.
I mean, it halts at 26D, that means it has a connection (it even
manages
to setup DTU encryption if I enable it!) it just doesn't retrieve the
graphics. SO i suspect it is something with GDM, X or the like.
You've checked that you have every dependency listed in the
documentation
in order? Some X related libs (don't remember their names unfortunately)
are needed but not necessarily given as dependencies by the SRSS rpms.
I added the needed packages, without success, but then..
Yes, I poked around more in /var/log and found /var/log/gdm and some files
in there. The latest created file (called :11.log.4) said:
/opt/SUNWut/lib/Xnewt: error while loading shared libraries:
libXfont.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
So I did
sudo yum instal libXfont and utrestart -c and now I got the login screen.
Hopefulyl I shall have no more problems now, I can't beta-test anymore
cause I'm going on weekend now (want to end friday with a success)
Thanks you guys, I was in despair but now it feels better.
As I suspected it was GDM, but it was a missing X-package like you said.
I wonder though why libXfont isn't mentioned in the documentation...

No, I'm off now (to a 2600 meeting???)
