Hi to all,
I am a newbie here, and i am newbie on sunrays too.
I've a successfully installed SRSS 4.1 server , with Winconnector
and i also have three Windows 2008 server - as terminal servers.
First of all my question is about the topology.
A; SRSS - 192.168.1.100 |Switch A
TS1 - 192.168.1.101 ..
TS2 - 192.168.1.102
..
DTU - 192.168.1.x
B; SRSS nic1 - 192.168.1.100 |Switch A
SRSS nic2 - 10.1.1.100 |Switch B
DTU - 192.168.1.x |Switch A
TS1 - 10.1.1.101 |Switch B
..
I've tried both versions, but I did not notice the difference.
Which topology should i choose?
Thank you for your support,
I dont think it really matters if you have dedicated network for
DTU's or not.
One way it might matter is bandwitdh wise. If you are running
lots of multimedia streams to the DTU's a separate
network and additional NIC would be good. But then again you can
setup an aggregated
mullti - NIC connection with the single network model .
One reason why the dual network model might be impossible is when
you have DTU's on the otherside of a metro network .
and you just have standard routing to the remote site with no VLAN
connections.
another issue is that with the Dual Network model the DHCP server in
the SRS server manages the DTU adresses almost
without you noticing that its working. With a Singel network you
mostly need to use a Windows DHCP server.
which can have some issues. However with SRSS4.1 the "proprietary
sun ray bits" in DHCP has been done away with, '
and we now use normal DCHP options.
