We reboot once a month to clean up after users. I clean out /tmp and /var/tmp
prior to the reboot, and have had no issues.

Personally, I wouldn't clean anything else out of /var. Accounting and log
files are rotated, and having historical data proves indispensible at times.
The patch and package management files are required for upgrades, updates, and
roll-backs.

Yeah - I'll be curious too - especially about the reboot. It is a
*rare* day that I reboot my SRSS or Solaris 10 servers. Around here
we call that the "Windows Way". utrestart -c maybe; reboot hardly
ever. But maybe I'm missing something?
