127553 is a Sun Ray Core Services patch for SRSS 4.0 so I'm not sure what it's doing on your 3.1 server. It is installed like a normal patch but contains specific firmware files [CoronaP* and SunRayP8] that go in /opt/SUNWut/lib/firmware[_gui] [the "gui" versions allow user access to some extra features like setting up VPN access, specifying a SunRay server, etc.].
It is possible to have the firmware files and not have the patch installed; all you have to do is copy them to the above directory and make them available to thin clients via the utfwadm command, which go into the /tftpboot directory where thin clients can download from. It's also possible to have different versions of FW available on two different servers, which appears to be your situation. It appears that your SRS 3.1 is offering 127553 firmware even though the FW is 4.0-related. The patch you should have on these 3.1 servers is 120881-08: http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-21-120881-08-1 -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of gerard Sent: Wednesday, February 03, 2010 10:29 AM To: [email protected] Subject: EXTERNAL:[SunRay-Users] SRSS 3.1 and patch 127553: how it is possible? hello all, on my sparc servers (v440) with SRSS 3.1, i noticed that the reference of the patch 127553 appears when i do "utadm -l": calypso-root% utadm -l ... NewTver= 4.0_127553-01_2007.11.09.17.41 penelope-root% utadm -l ... NewTver= 4.0_127553-04_2008.08.26.14.53 ... but penelope-root% showrev -p | grep 127553 penelope-root% shows that 127553 isn't installed on my server. So what's the meaning of this information, and why one server has 127553-01 and the other one 127553-04. The machines has the same level of patches, regarding srss: 120879-08 121171-01 127004-01 Any idea? thanks in advance for help, gerard _______________________________________________ SunRay-Users mailing list [email protected] http://www.filibeto.org/mailman/listinfo/sunray-users _______________________________________________ SunRay-Users mailing list [email protected] http://www.filibeto.org/mailman/listinfo/sunray-users
