Brad,
Thank you fir quick reply.
I totally understand what you have said and why.
I guess, my question would be, as a person who works for one of the
top Sun partner, what do we tell our customers in the meantime?

Well....
The rules for making forward looking statements about upcoming
product features, enhancements, and release schedules is drastically
different as part of Oracle. These make it difficult to specifically
answer your question below.
Oracle is committed to this product space. It is making investments
in all of it's own products as well as Sun's previous products that
are involved here.
In the short three months since View 4 has been released there has
been a lot of changes for Sun. This acquisition period has caused
delays many projects as Oracle comes up to speed and makes it's own
determinations about the individual product directions.
Product and feature announcements will be made as soon as we are
allowed to do so.

Brad,
I have been using View 4 and SRSS 4.2 without any problems. The
issue that Dante described will be resolved using the instructions
you provided for him. However, you stated that View 4 is not
supported. At the same time VMware states that ALP protocol is
supported. So why is it not supported by Sun and when do you think
it will be supported? It seems that Sun (Oracle) is shooting
themselves in te foot yet again by not supporting one of the more
popular VDI brokers out there that most customers look at these days.
Could you please explain Sun/Oracle position? Thank you!

While VMware View 4 is not supported at this time, it does
function if you operate in https mode. You will need to follow the
instructions on exporting the certificate from View and importing
it into the keystore on your Sun Ray server.
Here is a walkthough...

Hey there.
I'm having issues getting the VMware View 4 and Sun Ray 5 to work
together. I just see the repeated flash of the View Connector
splash page as it tries to connect, before the Sun Ray session
stops then try to reconnect to the View Server. Here's my
configuration, which is part of a test/dev and evaluation
environment.
M4000 server
Solaris 10 u8
Sun Ray Server 4.2
SRWC 2.2
SRVC 1.1
meta-kiosk script
SRVC arguments : -s <myviewservenamer> -http -no-auto-login -- -m
-b
Additonal issue includes not being able to restart kiosk sessions
with the kioskrestart command. I run this as root from a non-sun
ray remote console, after editing the Kiosk Mode in the Sun Ray
Admin GUI. I get the following error.
Error: failed to connect to kioskcritd (for app=true)
kioskrestart: error: could not terminate session for user root
I'm listing this just in case the two issues are related. I'm
not administering the VMware Server, but I would like to be able
to to provide the admin info on settings should be checked and
changes to be made.
Thanks for any and all assistance
Dante
