your Sun Ray has like 9 year old firmware. This firmware couldn't be used in
shared network (LAN) environments.

Does your server have another NIC in it?

If so, run

utadm -a e1000g1

substituting the e1000g1 with the interface name of your second NIC.

Then connect your Sun Ray with a crossover cable to this port.

This sets up a dedicated interconnect which will push the new firmware over to
your unit.

This firmware will work in a typical LAN environment like you are describing.
This feature has bee in the firmware for a long time.

After you are finished, you can run utadm -d e1000g1
