Hi Peter,

VMWare lists Sun Rays (thus SRVC 1.2) as "Compatible" with View 4.5.

Though our recent certification was only for 4. I'll find out any details that may be specific to 4.5. This is for RDP connections, we don't do PCoIP, but you *can* get all the benefits of the Sun Ray Windows Tools for better multimedia over RDP.

For Oracle VDI, we don't support View at all. "View" has it's own broker, specifically View Manager. View Manager has it's own database and connects to the Virtual Center to do all the provisioning, starting, etc.

Oracle VDI has it's own broker, therefore we setup Virtual Center as a desktop provider and our broker talks to the VC to do all the provisioning. Usually customers buy ESX + VC together in an offering called vSphere. Today we support vSphere 4.0 in Oracle VDI 3.2. vSphere 4.1 support will be included in Oracle VDI 3.2.1

If your VMware installation is piecemeal, you can see the individual components and the versions we support for VDI 3.2 here:

OK, I am officially confused. I have been trying to work out what is
available and/or supported for Sun Ray SRS 5 to integrate to virtual
desktops running in VMware View 4.5 environment. I have not been able to
find clear statements on specifically what combinations work, don't
work, or are officially supported / not. I've been looking through all
the documentation I could think of, but still not clear -- statements
are vague especially on combinations of versions.

More specifically:

- Does the SRVC 1.2 connector for VMware View (released July) work with
VMware View 4.5? Is it officially supported? (I see statements on View
4, so would that mean 4.5?)

- Same question, only with VDI 3.1.

Any clarification would be a big help. Or personal experiences doing
this. We are trying to steer a customer in the right direction ... or at
least not the wrong one ;-)

Cheers,
Peter
