We did think of that and removed the flash acceleration - no joy. The user also 
reports issues when using our webmail and when in Word (I'm assuming they don't 
have anything else open in the background - they say they don't)

Wild guess: we had significant problems when testing the Ray-specific
accelerations for Windows Media Player (and minor problems with those
for Adobe flash) with Early Access 4.2, although these were fairly
obviously associated with an app and typically the lockups were not
total.

Unlike your example, we are connecting to connect to VMWare View.  We
now use only the Sun audio driver (and no accelerations specific to WMP
or Flash).

Config: Solaris/x86, Ray 1 and Ray 2, some accel specific to Ray 2.
Connecting to Windows XP via the View client from Sun.
