Yes we have a customer running 4.2 connecting to 2k8 with the same issues. I did some digging into the issue with various scripts; it seems once a w2k8 application is started, the audio device settings is 're-set' to both the audio routes. It seems to happen vary random though so difficult to replicate with a specific application.
