Depends what you are doing. If doing anything windows related, the MMR,

be a lot of difference, save for perhaps a situation where max
compression is involved over a WAN link since the CPU on the 2 family is
greater and won't get bogged down as easily as the 1 family might.
Ok, I understand, thanks for the info. The application in question
is a fully-switched LAN, no Windows anywhere, with SRSS (4.2) running
under Linux (Ubuntu 9.10, 32-bit) for basic office productivity.
They're using OpenOffice for word processing and spreadsheets, and
Thunderbird, Firefox, etc.
They love all the Linux stuff on their standalone systems
(particularly the speed and the lack of crashes and virus problems), and
they like the Sun Rays ok but better interactive performance would be
appreciated. I've done the basics like setting desktop backgrounds to
solid colors to minimize background redraws, but scrolling and window
redraw performance could be better.
That said, though, everything is still set at defaults...are there
compression parameters, or anything like that, that could be tweaked for
better user-visible performance in those areas?
