What model scanner is it? (did I miss the earlier part of this thread?) We use Symbol / Motorola brand and they are seen as USB keyboards by the Sun Ray. Pretty much works great out of the box. We have seen other brands where the country-code was an issue on how the scanner presented itself to the Sun Ray. So Craig is correct to advise you check that.
