I managed to fix this by changing
/etc/opt/SUNWut/gdm/SunRayPreSession/Default
if [ -x $i ]; then

to
if [ -x $i ]; then

fi
I have been testing with Xubuntu 10.10. I decided to change the GDM
theme and ever since then, I only seem to have a resolution of 640x480.
I'm not sure how to fix it. I guess the adventure continues.
