I had a lot of strange issues with OVDC 2.1.7, which had to do something with
German localization (the session reseted constantly ...) or so. So I would go
for 2.1.9 or higher.

The fancy port list, which need to be open you find here
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E22662_01/ - Installation Guide pg. 13ff.

1.) What happens if you disable the FW and start OVDC, does it work ?

2.) We had issues, where everything was OK, there was a session on the sun ray
server, but you did not see anything on the client side, because UDP was
blocked, which is used for transfer of graphics ... so do you see a correct
session on the sun ray server, even seeing nothing on the client.

3.) In the old days there were two scripts remoteuser & remotegreet, that can
show you what a user should see with a tiny vnc window of the sun ray session.
Guess this tools are not around any longer or supported by Oracle, but they
helped me a lot when having issues with client that were blind.

just some thoughts, thomas

Betreff: [SunRay-Users] OVDC 2.1.7 and MS firewall

Installed OVDC 2.1.7 on half dozen or so PC's with Vista. Most of these worked
fine, but a couple had the Windows firewall enabled. During the install, the
firewall software asked if it was OK to allow OVDC through, we answered yes,
but the OVDC still does not seem to be able to get connected to the SR server
and just sits at a white screen with the red Oracle logo after the spinner
disappears.

It seems that on any PC or laptop that had the Windows firewall enabled at the
time we did the OVDC install, OVDC will not work even though we said to allow
it through. We have uninstalled OVDC, disabled the firewall, and re-installed
OVDC with no joy. We even removed the OVDC folder in appdata, still no joy.

Any suggestions, RTFM's, etc gratefully accepted.

Art
