A rather generic question: in the open-source world, isn't it possible
to just release the source-code patch with the software, and/or provide
precompiled replacement GDM RPM packages for selected "SRS-supported"
sub-releases of RHEL6?

At least the self-supported enthusiasts would have a chance to run
SRS on their platform of choice and Oracle might sell more without
providing much actual support. A win-win for both parties ;)
