I have installed SRS 5.2.5 on RedHat EL 5.6 following the instructions in the installation guide. I am having an odd sound issue.
The AUDIODEV and UTAUDIODEV variables are being set, the Volume Control Preferences shows my device as "utadem (OSS Mixer)", but when I attempt to play a sound I only hear the first millisecond of audio before it cuts off. I am testing with the gnome-sound-properties application which allows you to test audio. On the wiki there is a guide detailing how to add support for playing popular media formats, but my problem seems different from this. I have followed the instructions on the wiki, and now I am able to load a MP3 file in Exaile, but still when I play any MP3 I only hear the first blip of sound and the it stops. I have not found anything in the logs that sheds any light on the issue. No errors were reported when installing the Sun Ray Audio module and the soundcore and utadem kernel modules are loaded. I've also checked permissions on device files in /tmp/SUNWut/dev/audio/ and everything is owned by the user logged in to the Sun Ray session. Any suggestions will be very much appreciated. -Oliver
