I haven't heard anything counter to that. It's just that up to this point, you can't deploy native Linux desktops on an officially support SRS with a decent, modern web-browser.
There are those from Oracle who respond with “Oracle is supporting SRSS in modern multi-seat desktop environments (i.e. RHEL or OEL).” IMO, this is a clear example of not getting the issue. By doing VDI, yes, you can support practically any operating system, but the point is VDI IS NOT ALWAYS THE BEST CHOICE. And IMHO it is rarely, if ever, the best choice. The bottom line is that it has been a long time since RHEL 6 was released. It is the closest thing to a modern, stable, Linux desktop, and it is unsupported until now with nothing but rumours about future support. Am I the only one who finds it hard to get enthusiastic about the VDI bandwagon? Am I missing something important here? I recently did some reading on the architecture of XenDesktop and it made my head hurt and my heart ache. Unix is simple and elegant, when will we find our sanity again? Sorry about the rant, it's Monday and I haven't had coffee.
