Hi Bjoern,

Sounds like a solution!

You mention that the Kiosk users are automatically logged in. Do you mean at
boot, or when inserting the smart-card.

Gr, Rob

Subject: Re: [SunRay-Users] creation of an user session

Hi Rob,

Is it possible to automatically create a user session for a given user and
associate the session with a smart card?

not exactly but almost like that. You could setup a certain smart card to run a
kiosk mode session. Kiosk users are automatically logged in (no password). But
you cannot control the kiosk user name, a new one will be picked from a pool of
kiosk users for each new session. But you could use one of these solutions to
work around that:

- if you only need one of these special accounts, create only one kiosk user.
That way, your one kiosk session will always use the same user
- write a script that tells your other application which username is currently
running the x server
