If you already have keyboards and such, then all you need to do a mix is
a sequencing program that handles audio. There are some programs on the
market (less that $100) that will do that.
For $300, Cubase VST is a pretty powerful program. Along with handling
midi devies such as keyboards, it can handle up to 32 tracks of audio, with
effects and equalizers for each.
For example, I have 3 keybooards I'm hooking up via midi. Then I take
the audio tracks from the internet, arrange them as I like, and add keyboard
parts. Then I record the keyboard audio to the computer, and add effects
and equalizers for each audio track.
People with Rebirth v2 (an acid techno program) also can do direct audio
streaming into Cubase VST.
