From: "Neil Fanning" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: SS: Slightly OT: Chart position mailing lists, and Sophie B Hawkins Date: Thu, 15 Jul 1999 01:03:53 PDT The official home of the UK charts can be found at http://www.dotmusic.com They now publish the entire Top 75 Singles (with commentary) and Top 75 Album Charts online, as well as a plethora of other charts, such as the Top 40 portion of Alan Jones' Club Chart (though without the commentary that appears in MW), the Top 30 Dance Chart (12" Single Sales Chart), Dance Albums, Indie Singles and Albums, R&B, Compilation Albums, Music Video, and the Top 20 selling singles of the year to date, amongst others. You can also zubscribe to most of these lists, and have the various charts sent by email on a Sunday night, but they only send the Top 20 of each chart. There used to be a time when you could have the entire Top 200 posted weekly by email, but CIN have stepped in and closed down all infringers of their copyright. If you are interested though, you can subscribe to Tobias Zywietz's ("Zobbel") mailing lists, where he details all the new entries in the Top 200 singles chart/Top 200 Albums Chart/Top 100 Airplay Chart/Top 50 Compilations Chart - just do a websearch on his name. As for forthcoming single releases, the best place to look is the HMV website (http://www.hmv.co.uk). If you scroll down the main page, on the right hand side you'll see a link called "All The Singles release dates until (whenever)" which gets updated about once a fortnight. At the moment, they have dates up until September. As we know so well from the OOTW saga, any information on that list about release dates is very likely to change, and sometimes seems inaccurate. For instance, you'll see that a whole slew of, for instance, past Daft Punk and Air singles are to be re-released in the near future, as well as some songs which have already been pretty big hits in very recent times, such as "Bamboo" by Bamboogie, "Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust, and "Feel The Beat" by Camisra, which all seems a bit unlikely. Just remember to take all this information as indicative, and not as gospel. "Ayla" from Ayla is scheduled to be reissued on August 23rd, but it has appeared on this list a few times already in the past few months without ever being released. Hopefully this time it will happen. I've heard of a new BT single ("Believer" I think is the title) and there's supposed to be a new Chicane single in the Autumn, but neither of these are listed yet. For any EBTG fans, there's a new single out in September ("Five Fathoms") from the new dance-oriented album which was delivered to Virgin 2 weeks ago and which should be out by Christmas. HMV also have an e-mail list of new album/video/games releases if you want to sign up. Now Stuart, the current edition of HP over here lists a new album by Sophie B Hawkins called "Timbre" as one of the fortnight's new releases. Is this true? Hope all that helped. /Neil >From: Stuart Bruce <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >To: Sunscreem mailing list <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Subject: SS: Slightly OT: Chart position mailing lists >Date: Wed, 14 Jul 1999 21:19:40 +0100 (BST) > > >This is a bit off topic, unless of course Sunscreem ever get back into >the UK charts (taking their time about it, aren't they?)... > >Does anybody know of a mailing list (or a Web site, but preferably a >mailing list) which sends out either of the following on a weekly basis: > >(a) The UK Top 40 / Top 75. > >(b) A list of forthcoming UK single & album releases. > >Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
