I would bet that they are older 64 MB DIMMs made from smaller 
capacity chips.  So, instead of having 8 or 16 chips on them, they 
probably have something like 32 chips on them (16 Mb capacity each) 
and that is why they are so large.   These would be what are known as 
"composite DIMMs".  There are occasional warnings against them going 
all the way back to the Mac II days (SIMMs back then of course), but 
in most cases they work fine.  They draw a little more power.
