Hi All,
Ron is interested in trying to repair broken solder joints. We now have
two old monitors with "dead on red" problems for him to experiment with.
I was able to find some basic info about broken solder joints on the
web, and Jeff was kind enough to supply some additional info off list.
One thing we don't know is solder temperature. Does anyone know what
temperature to use when soldering inside a monitor or CPU? Or, a
source of this kind of information?
For anyone interested... Ron found what he said was a great price on a
Soldering Station that allows you to maintain a constant soldering
temperature: 150C to 450C. It is from American Science & Surplus.
You can find them at:
http://www.sciplus.com/
If you have an interest in the soldering station itself, check here:

We will be happy to share results of the experiments if anyone is interested.
Nancy
