Hello Everyone,
I'm really glad I found this very helpful group. I've owned my J700/180 for over 4 years now (time flies when you're having fun) and keep thinking I should trade it in for a new apple or something but can't find a reason to stop using my Umax. It continues to work fine (knock on wood) for what I use it for. I did the Sonnet G4/450 upgrade as well as installing the firewire/usb card. I'm also running dual monitors with two TwinTurbo cards. I do have a bit of a read/write problem with my external Lacie 80 GB Firewire drive. It won't read large Photoshop psd or tiff files but will read large jpegs unless I disable the Lacie Firewire Support extension, in which case I can then quickly open any file of any size from the drive but then won't let me write to it with just the Apple Firewire Support and Firewire Enabler extensions. I'm forced to switch back and forth between these extensions. Crazy. Diagnostics say the drive is fine. At one point I was foolishly looking around my invisible files before this happened. I wonder if I nuked something that is now hampering the functionality of my Lacie, because it all worked perfectly when I first got it. Anyway, hope someone has some insight into this. I enjoy reading everyone's posts. Cheers, John -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
