Not so neurotic as it turns out.  I emailed them, and they are indeed 
confused.  Here's their reply.

I emailed them to explain the difference.  The S900 is odd enough and 
had most of us confused about how it differed/resembled a 9500 that I 
don't blame them.  I just hope they're willing to read my 
explanation.  It was rather lengthy.  It's hard to know where to 
settle on the thoroughness vs. readability balance.

I want to get through to them, because I truly suspect that the 
6400/6500 problem was similar and they might be able to do something, 
at least with their Tango card, that makes it work in the lower slots 
of the S900.

Now just to confirm--the S900 doesn't have any problems with G4 
upgrades that don't occur with G3 and 604(e) CPUs, correct?  That's 
my understanding with high reliability, but we've got a great 
collection of S900 users here, so I like to get a reality check, just 
in case.
