If iMovie VCD's made on your UMAX is your only or main use no. So called Brand name DVD players(Sony Hitachi,Philips etc) are not nearly as good at playing VCD,DVD Pal & NTSC and playing homemade VCD's on CDR and CDRW as the china made machines are. I have a GE 1101p(same as a 703 Apex) DVD player $99.00 at Walmart and it plays nearly everything I throw at it! I used to be a guy who wouldn't have thought of buying Audio & video etc any where but high end stores. After reading the player lists at www.vcdhelper.com I took a chance on this cheap machine and have not been sorry. I have friends who spent 3 and 4 times what I did and they can't even borrow VCD's from me and play them. Sony's and etc DVD players are mostly for going to Blockbuster video and renting your DVD's..This is slowly changing with some new models. So the most important thing is to make sure the machine will play VCD, CDR and CDRW disks otherwise it will only play store bought VCD's and DVD's and maybe CDRW disks of some brands oddly enough.VCD's are sold in China and on the WWW.Many are legit and very cheap much cheaper then DVD. I have a friend in the UK who sends me Pal VCD's of shows we don't get here and they play great on my cheap china made machine. It converts the disks to which ever type of TV it is hooked to.NTSC is North America and Japan. Pal is most of the rest of the world except for France of course which has it's very own Secam or something like that. But most Euro sold machines are like the china made ones play whatever. So hope this answers your question. Will S -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
