I ordered 1- 128 mb EDO ram stick from:
http://www.smsassembly.com

On 4/10/02 wed it arrived the following tues the 16th of April. Not
bad Florida to Portland , OR ground shipping UPS.I tested very
briefly using Gauge Pro. It checked out fine. So then I checked it
for 4 hr using "Power Control" RAM TEST which comes with XLR8 G3/4
cards. No problems so used my machine that evening all was well. Set
to check for 8hrs while I was asleep and all was well when i woke up.
I have now been using for 1 week and no problems!
It cost $22.75 + $6.00 ground shipping= $28.75 they also have FPM ram
for close to the same price though you do have to look around on the
site a lot to find it at that price. The website is well setup (except
for some sell prices like the FPM ram is hard to find) They list a
phone number for contact though I didn't need it. The ordering
software worked fine. They offer a lifetime repair or replace
warranty. The ram chips are labeled Micron which i figured out by
using the info at the Chipmonk site.
Another plus is while I was hoping I didn't expect it to interleave
with the 128 mb ram stick I bought over a year ago from OWC. Well it
does despite it being 50ns and the OWC is 60ns. The advantage of now
having all my ram interleaved...In Gauge pro my moving memory has
gone from 42.9 to 57.5mb/sec. This increase shows up in the Macbench
5 tests cpu & Fpu both jumped apox 300 points. Yes I can tell the
difference! So granted this is only 1 ram chip but I'm very happy. Oh
yah it is true OSX is a ram hog. Going from 208 -336 mb of ram
classic now starts up in less than half the time. I really didn't
expect that. WILL S
PS order at your own risk ;-)
