Well, I am not Jeff, but we have a c600x/280 that has the Sonnet combo 
Firewire/USB card installed.  Yes, you do have to remove the 
CacheDoubler to install the combo card, or any other USB card for that 
matter.

If you remove the CacheDoubler your machine will take a big hit in 
performance.  We installed a G3/400 processor upgrade after removing the 
CacheDoubler.

I recently purchased a Sonnet ATA/100 card and am in the process of 
installing it.  (in another machine - not the c600)  There is a Control 
Panel for dealing with the audio stuttering problems.  Check on Sonnet's 
web site.  It is called the Tempo AV tool.

You can connect 4 devices to the Sonnet ATA/100.  When I checked you 
could buy the ATA/100 card AND a new IDE drive for the price of a 
similar size SCSI drive.
