If I were you I would have snapped up that Sonnet card at half price so quick before someone else got it! The VST card more trouble then it's cheap price is worth. IMHO. While it will be fine for many people who only use 1 or 2 PCI cards. If you want full use and freedom to use your PCI slots as you would like... First off it has serious PCI slot issues and doesn't play well with other PCI cards as reported by Jeff W but not mentioned in his latest post which does mention the slot issue. You also need to pay out $10.00 more in order to use OSX with that card. I would go to www.xlr8yourmac.com and check out the drive compatibility area and see if anyone is use your CDRW drive with that PCI card. The Sonnet ATA 100 PCI card is just to confuse the matter based on the Promise ATA card and not the ACARD model. It can with free software/firmware be upgraded to ATA 133. Sonnet went back to Acard for their current ATA 133 card. While the VST card is known for being CD drive friendly other cards work well with many cd drives including CDRW and DVD. Many people have been able to fix the audio problem by using the free software from Sonnet or turning off Virtual Memory. Also I think the audio problem is over reported and only experienced by a vocal few. I and many others have never experienced it.
