Thanks to those who responded, Below is my "conversation with Sonnet" that I will not replied to... I'm just disappointed. I thought I'd share so you don't make the same mistake I made "trying to find a solution to Audio Studder on a S900"
I think I've missed something in all this... Question: Listers, What have been your experiences with the Tempo ATA100, would you please share... I have 2 ATA 100 cards, one of which will go into a second S900 , the other card? Unused and looking for a home, listers have first crack, name your price.... I'll ship. or on to Ebay.... Phillip -- >MY EMAIL TO SONNET TECH SUPPORT, as follows.... >Hello , I have a problem, I have 2 ATA 100 cards and both are useless >to me, why..."Audio Studder" as I was told Sonnet has "shelved" & reverted >to the "Acard" design, anyway what I'm suggesting is a trade-up...I would >like a ATA 66 card if you still have them I would like to send back >both cards. >The second card was purchased while I waited for evaluation. If not 1for 1, >then would you do a 2 for 1 instead. I will "eat the difference" I >have already >replaced one card with a competitor the VST Ultratek 66 which has solved >my problem in one of my 2 machines. >P.S. A little more background...I never had an issue with the "Promise" cards >It was only discovered when I installed an ATAPI DVD-ROM to replace the >SCSI CD-ROM in my machine. >I await your response. Thanks, Phillip >>SONNET TECH SUPPORT, Response..... >>Phillip, >>We haven't "shelved" the ATA100 card. We still sell it and support it. The >>audio stuttering problem was solved by the Tempo AV tool that Promise >>provided us. Have you tried using that? >>Shortly after Promise released their tool, Acard released a similar tool. >>The ATA66 is history actually. We have none left in stock so I couldn't >>trade you down if I wanted to. Personally, I think the Promise card is a >>better made card. >>That VST card is actually a Promise card. The UltraTek name is actually >>trademarked to Promise and they let VST license it. >>Generally speaking, adding a DVD-ROM to an older machine is pretty >>pointless. You can't play DVD movies on them. All you can do is run data >>DVDs. The Tempo 66 card handles removable type devices like CDs and DVDs >>pretty poorly. We only support fixed mass storage devices with that card. >>The ATA100 card handles them a little better and it handles them superbly >>under OS X since it appears as a native IDE controller to OS X. >>I'm attaching the Tempo AV tool just in case you don't have a copy. -- -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
